Let’s keep you learning.
A few answers to help you find your next small step.
A stroke isn’t being accepted
Start near the numbered point and follow the indicated direction in one continuous stroke. Use “Show me the stroke” to watch the next stroke. Undo removes your last accepted stroke; Restart lets you begin the character again.
When does “A little memory check” appear?
It appears after tracing an already familiar character when a check is eligible. Eligibility is decided before that tracing attempt: you need another completed trace since the last recall answer, and either no check today or a need for more practice. A first-ever trace teaches the meaning without a check. The separate Test my recall activity only starts when you choose it.
I can’t hear the pronunciation
Turn up your iPhone’s media volume and check whether sound is routed to Bluetooth headphones or a speaker. Tap the speaker button after the meaning is revealed. Pronunciation is tap-to-play; the app does not listen to you.
My daily reminder hasn’t appeared
Open Settings in the app, enable a reminder, choose a time, and save. Then check that notifications for Trace Chinese are allowed in iPhone Settings. Reminders are local, off by default, and remain quiet while the app is open.
How do I change what I practice?
Open Settings to change your learning level and practice focus, or manage individual included characters. Level and focus changes apply to the next unstarted lesson rather than reshuffling a lesson you have already begun.
Where is my progress saved?
Your progress is saved locally on your iPhone. There is no account or app-managed sync between devices. Deleting the app removes its local data, so avoid reinstalling as a first troubleshooting step.
